Royal Adelaide’s Stephanie Na extended her overnight lead after firing a second round of four-under 70 at the Glenelg Golf Club in Adelaide today. Na sits in a commanding position with a five stroke lead over West Australia’s Kristie Smith.
Na’s round of 70 was all the more impressive on a day when only a handful of players broke par after struggling with the windy conditions on the par 74 seaside layout.
Victoria’s Claire Choi, the current number one amateur in the country, was one of the high profile casualities on day two. Choi, who currently leads the inaugural Karrie Webb Series, stumbled to close the day with a four-over 78 and fell into a tie for 10th.
The top 32 players following the 72 hole stroke play tournament will qualify for the Australian Amateur, a matchplay event which will be played at Royal Adelaide Golf Club in conjunction with the men from the 18th – 20th April.
