Victoria’s Stacey Keating faces an uphill battle on the final day of the 2008 Australian Women’s Amateur in the Adelaide today.
Keating finished the morning’s play 6 down after a round that was dominated by the in-form West Australian, Kristie Smith.
In was a tight battle across the front nine with neither player dominating the course in what were perfect conditions at the Royal Adelaide Golf Club.
Smith made the turn at 2up following a birdie at the par 5 9th hole and then proceeded to stamp her mark on the back nine moving to 5up through 14 holes.
Keating clawed her way back with a birdie at the 15th and a square at the 16th, however Smith put paid to the first 18 holes of the final with a pair of birdies to close the morning at 6up, leaving Keating with a lot of work to do in this afternoon’s final 18 holes of match play.
