Australian golfer, Brendan Jones will be aiming for his fourth consecutive Tsuruya Open when he tees it up at the Yamanohara golf Club in Hyogo Prefecture in the south of Honshu this week. Jones has won the event in each of the last three times he has played although that winning streak spans over a periods of four years given that he played the USPGA Tour in 2005.
Jones will join an elite group of players is he is able to do so with only Tiger Woods having achieved such a feat on the PGA Tour since 1930 while Annika Sorenstam (5) and Laura Davies have done so on the LPGA Tour. Others have done so on lesser Tours, including New Zealander John Lister, who won what was effectively an Australasian Tour event in New Zealand in the mid 1970’s.
Jones began his 2008 campaign in Japan last week in Nagoya where he finished a respectable 16th at the Token Homemate Cup.
