Scott establishes three shot lead

A brilliant approach to three feet at the last hole of his third round of the EDS Byron Nelson Championship set up Adam Scott’s fifth birdie of the day and his round of 67 has given him a three shot lead over Bart Bryant, Charley Hoffman, Ryan Moore and Kevin Sutherland.
Scott birdied two of his last three holes to extend his overnight lead and place himself in the box seat as he seeks his sixth PGA Tour victory. He quickly recovered from an early bogey and on the demanding and revamped TPC Los Colinas layout, the leading world ranked player in the field this week, has established what could well be a winning break.
Scott travelled back to Australia after finishing 25th at the Masters but changed plans and headed back to Dallas to play this event, the Wachovia Championship next week and the Players Championship.
Mathew Goggin, who started the day one shot behind Scott, struggled for much of the day and after a round of 72 he now finds himself six shots behind his fellow countryman.
Mark Hensby was also in that share of second after 36 holes but, other than an eagle at the par five 7th, it was battle for him also and he now finds himself in a share of 14th and seven shots adrift of Scott.
Brisbane’s Stuart Deane added a 72 to his opening rounds of 70 and 69 and is in 28th position.
