Keating, Na lead QLD Stroke Play

Stacey Keating (Victoria Golf Club) and Ellie Na (Royal Pines Golf Club on the Gold Coast) share the lead in the 2008 Queensland Women’s 72 Hole Stroke Play Championship after round one with an equal course record score 70 (-2).
Keating, who was runner up in the Australian Women’s Amateur played at Royal Adelaide Golf Club last week, continued her good form at Townsville Golf Club today.
She got away to a brilliant start with birdies on the first three holes and a further birdie at the fifth to go four under but a double bogey six on the 9th saw her turn 2 under. Na also turned 2 under with three birdies on the front nine.
Defending champion Bree Arthur (Brookwater) shot 73 (+1) putting her in third place and still within reach of the leaders.
Local Townsville member Leonie Attlee shot 86 today to hold a two shot lead over fellow club member Robyn Hasenkamp, with Rowes Bay junior Fiona Bell in third place on 99 in the 2008 Queensland 54 hole Stroke Play Championship
The Queensland 72 hole Stroke Play Championship continues tomorrow with competitors playing 18 holes each day for the next 3 days. The Queensland 54 hole Stroke Play Championship is played in conjunction finishing on Wednesday.
