Birdie blitz wins WA Women's Stroke Play

2008 Australian Women’s Stroke Play champion Stephanie Na rallied with six birdies through the final ten holes to overturn a five stroke deficit and defeat Kristie Smith in the WA Women’s Stroke Play Championship at Lake Karrinyup Country Club.
The South Australian started the day two strokes behind her good friend and rival but looked down and out through the turn after Smith managed to put five strokes between them.
However an inspired back nine that included crucial birdies on 15 and 16 was enough for Na to level the scores and watch as Smith three putted on the 18th green to hand her victory.
The result adds further intrigue to the finale of the Karrie Webb Series later this month.
Na is the new leader on 788 points from Smith, who sits on 743 going into the NSW Women’s Stroke Play Championship at Concord Golf Club from May 19.
