Amy Yang tops Ladies European moneylist

Korean 18-year-old, Amy Yang, has recorded her best finish as a professional when she finished runner up, six shots behind the world number three, Suzann Pettersen, at the rain reduced Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open.
It was Yang’s fifth top ten in six starts this season on the Ladies European Tour and takes her to the top of the 2008 New Star Money List with earnings of €98,400 for the season.
The final round of this week’s tournament was abandoned due to heavy rain in the Ticino region of Switzerland, leaving tournament officials with no alternative other than to cancel the final day’s play.
Yang turned professional in October of 2006 but was only able commit to a full time professional career at the completion of her HSC exams in Queensland, Australia towards the end of 2007.
Yang attended the LPGA Tour Q School in Florida late in 2007 but was only able to secure limited status on that tour. She is playing in Europe where she has full status courtesy of her victory at the 2006 ANZ Ladies Masters on the Gold Coast and a solid first season in limited events in Europe in 2007. Yang has also played two events on the LPGA Tour this season, making the cut in both.
Adding to what was a great week for Yang was the hole in one she had in Saturday’s third round when playing with Pettersen. Yang’s effort earned her an Omega watch.
The tournament winner, Pettersen, will now return to the USA where she will play in this week’s Ginn Tribute in South Carolina before defending her LPGA title in Maryland starting on June 5th.
Dana Lacey and Joanne Mills were the best of the Australians finishing in 22nd position.
