Slow start for Aussies at Queen Sirikit

Australia is in a share of sixth place at four-under after the first round of the Queen Sirikit Cup at Sodegaura Country Club in Japan. Korea and the hosts are runaway leaders at 18 and 17-under respectively.

The Queen Sirikit Cup is a three-round event with two best daily scores counting toward each team’s total score. The winner is the team with the lowest overall score after the three days of play.

Australia’s counting scores in the opening round were Clare Choi’s 71 (-3) and Stephanie Na’s 73 (-1) for a total of four-under. This leaves them alongside Thailand in equal-sixth, one behind Malaysia but still some way behind the leaders and defending champs Korea.
