22-year-old Shinobu Morimizato today won the AXA Ladies Golf Tournament in Hokkaido, Japan, by two shots over Miho Koga and in doing so won her third Japan Ladies Golf Tour event.

Morimizato, who played the LPGA Tour in 2006 before returning to play full time in Japan, shared the lead into the final day of the event with Koga but by the turn she had broken clear and established a four shot lead and the event was effectively hers to win or lose.

It was Morimizato’s third win on the Japan Golf Tour but her first this season. Morimazato moved to 10th on the 2008 Japan Ladies Golf Tour money list.

Australian Tamie Durdin was the only Australian in the event and finished 11th, the Brisbane based professional’s equal best finish of what has been an ordinary season to date on the JLPGA Tour. Durdin is currently in 57th place on the 2008 JLPGA Tour money list.
