Lyle extends money lead on Nationwide

BY Bruce Young | Nationwide Tour | 2008 Xerox Classic | Round Four | 18 Aug 2008

Jarrod Lyle has extended his lead on the 2008 Nationwide Tour’s money list with a runner up finish to Brendan De Jonge in today’s Xerox Classic in Rochester, New York.

Lyle, who started the final day four shots behind the eventual winner, actually took the outright lead with an eagle at the 9th hole but De Jonge re-established his lead with birdies at the 11th and 12th holes.

Lyle, looking for his third victory of the season and graduation to the PGA Tour for the events following the FedEx Cup playoffs, faltered over the closing stages with three bogeys in his final six holes but his second place finish has him US$42,000 ahead of the second placed player on the 2008 Nationwide Tour money list.

De Jonge’s victory was his first of the season but he has maintained a level of consistency throughout the year that has seen him now move into second place on the money list while Bill Lunde’s 11th place finish has seen him move into third place just US$5,000 ahead of Greg Chalmers.

Chalmers finished 19th alongside of Marc Leishman, Bradley Iles continued his improvement when 24th, Won Joon Lee was 29th, David McKenzie and Cameron Percy 37th, with Scott Gardiner and Grant Waite 41st.

The Nationwide Tour now moves to Scranton in North East Pennsylvania Classic.
