NSW extend lead at Women's Interstate
IN: News | Australian Ladies Amateur | Australian Women's Interstate Teams Matches (2008) | Round Three | 03 Sep 2008
As the weather turned to cold and damp conditions at Pymble, Victoria took advantage of the inclement weather to make a serious statement to the rest of the competition.
Trailing 2-1 after the foursomes matches against Tasmania, Victoria exploded into life, winning all of their singles matches with Grace Lennon’s 9&7 win over Sarah Johnstone one of the highlights.
The action was just as intense as Western Australia took on New South Wales. After being down 2-1 after the foursomes, the singles matches produced some outstanding battles. Whitney Hillier beat Julia Boland 2-up while Jessica Speechley and Rebecca Flood squared.
It was a similar tale for South Australia in their match against Queensland. Despite being down 2-1 after foursomes, the Queenslanders led by Bree Arthur and Samantha Holt fought back to win four of the five singles matches and beat SA 5-3 overall. South Australia retained second position.
