Suzuki tops QLD Girls Amateur

16-year-old Saki Suzuki (Lakelands) has continued her brilliant form firing a par round of 74 today in the final round of qualifying and placing her on 144 (-4) for the Championship. Suzuki finished three shots clear of second qualifier Ellie Na (Royal Pines) who also managed a par round of 74 to finish on 147 (-1).

Nadine White took home the 36 hole gross prize for Division 2 (Handicaps 7-45) after shooting rounds of 80, 78 – 158 (+10). Local girl and Division 2 player Mary Lippiatt (Indooroopilly) won the best nett over 36 holes shooting consistently under her handicap both days with nett 72, 68 – 140 (-8). The Division 1 nett winner was Emily McLennan (Hills International) who carded nett scores of 72, 70 – 142 (-6).

The always magnificent Indooroopilly Golf Course was in pristine condition and full credit must go to course superintendent Charlie Giffard and his team for the preparation they have put into this Championship.

The first round of match play will commence tomorrow morning with the top 8 leading players qualifying for the Queensland Girls’ Amateur Championship. Qualifiers of the Second Flight and 14 Years and Under Flight will also commence their matches Thursday with the finals being played Friday.
