Gary Player heats up at halfway mark

BY iseekgolf.com | Queensland Mens Tour | 2008 Gary Player Classic | Round Two | 01 Oct 2008

Keperra’s Eric Park continued his good form from the opening day of the 2008 Gary Player Classic at Pacific Golf Club, shooting a two under par 69 to move four shots clear of overnight leader Bobin Kang after round two.

Park is the only player to have shot two rounds in the 60’s, following his three-under par 68 on day one. Second placed Kang didn’t enjoy quite the success he had on day one, shooting a three-over par 74 to be sitting on 141 (-1).

Young Hills International member Maverick Antcliff has taken the lead in the 15 and under age group after shooting a second par round of 71 for a halfway total of 142. Antcliff is only one shot in front of Cameron Smith (Wantima) who shot 73 (+2) to add to yesterdays 70 (-1) for a total of 143.

In the 18 to 20 age division, Virginia member Ben Fletcher holds a one shot lead from overnight leader Drew McLellan after firing a one under par 70 to be sitting at 139 (-3). McLellan followed yesterday’s 68 with a one over par 72 on day two.

Play continues tomorrow with a seeded draw, with the top 25 players in each age division advancing to Friday’s final round.
