Three-way lead at Gary Player Classic

Ben Fletcher (Virginia), Bobin Kang (Arundel Hills) and Cameron Smith (Wantima) will be playing for the biggest prize of their short careers tomorrow, with the three players holding leads in their respective age groups heading into the final round of the 2008 Gary Player Classic at Pacific Golf Club.
In the 15 years and under division Cameron Smith will be hard to beat after firing an impressive three-under par 68 in today’s third round. Smith’s three round total of 211 (-2) is six shots clear of second placed Maverick Antcliff (Hills), who sits on 217 (+4) after shooting a third round 75.
Bobin Kang (Arundel Hills) continues to hold his lead in the 16 and 17 age group following a third round 73 leaving him on 214 (1). Hard on his heels are Chris Wood (Wynnum), Taylor MacDonald (Redcliffe) and Do Eun An (Pacific) who all sit 4 shots behind on 218 (5).
In the 18 to 20 year division, Virginia Member Ben Fletcher maintains his lead following another impressive sub par round of 69 to take his 54 hole total to 208 (-5). Josh Preston (Wynnum) and Drew McLellan (Hills International) both sit four shots behind on 212 (-1).
As per tradition at the Gary Player Classic which is now in it’s 37th year, those players finishing in the top 10 of their age group division will be invited to attend the Presentation Luncheon following the conclusion of tomorrow’s final round.
The final round resumes tomorrow at 6:30am with play expected to finish at around 1:00pm.
