It’s been the story all week – leading qualifier Saki Suzuki (Lakelands) once again demonstrated superb control of her game to account for 2008 Queensland Women’s Amateur Champion Ellie Na (Royal Pines) 5 & 4 in this afternoon’s final of the 2008 Queensland Girl’s Amateur Championship.
Suzuki played flawless golf all week after firing 4-under par over 36 holes qualifying and winning three matches to finish atop the table.
The Championship Flight – a division for players defeated in the first round of the Championship – was won by Emily McLennan (Hills International) 5 & 4 over Annie Choi (Gainsborough Greens). Emily has continued to impress and will head into the Jack Newton International in good form where she will represent Golf Queensland.
Jade Vellacott (Oxley) upset Ellesha Michie (Emerald Lakes) in the Second Flight winning her match 4 & 3. The Under 14 Years Flight was taken to the 19th hole where Stephanie Wilson (Royal Queensland) accounted for Lauren Mason (Horton Park).
Also presented this afternoon was the Gatehouse award – which was won by Jacki Marshall (Pacific). The Gatehouse award is an encouragement award in honour of Mrs. J Austin Gatehouse.
