Matt Jager has opened with a barrage of birdies on the front nine at the Federal Amateur to bypass overnight leader France’s Victor Dubuisson for a two stroke margin after the opening nine holes.
Jager made the turn at 14-under-par having started the final day at 9-under-par, three behind Dubuisson and quickly made his move on the 4th with solid par to Dubisson’s bogey. Jager followed then with birdies on 5, 7, 8 to gain his two stroke margin over Dubuisson after nine.
Jager fired yesterday’s low round with a stellar six-under-par 66. England’s Todd Adcock, the other player in the final group, who equalled Jager’s 66 yesterday, has been unable to capitalise in the final round and is at 9-under-par.
Jager last week won his first international victory with a two-stroke victory in the Tournament of International Jockey Club of Rosario in Argentina and has played last 60 holes without a bogey at the Federal Amateur.
