Australia's Aaron Baddeley has again answered his critics and posted a -6 (64) to share the second round lead with South Africa's Retief Goosen at the US$4.5 million Sony Open in Hawaii.
Baddeley began his round with a bogey at the par 4 1st hole but he soon regrouped and went on to fire a total of seven birdies including four on the back nine. His round of 64 was the best of the day also matched Retief Goosen and Kenny Perry's rounds from the first round.
Peter Lonard, who is coming off the back of an amazing year in 2002 with a win at the Australian Masters and the Australian PGA, has continued his awesome form to post a second round -5 (65) and sits just a shot back from Goosen and Baddeley at -9 and seemingly has every chance of securing his first US PGA Tour title.
Chris DiMarco and last week's Mercedes Championships winner, Ernie Els join Lonard at -9 following rounds of 66 and 65 respectively.
Anthony Painter is next best of the Australasians, firing a -5 (65) to close the day at -5 with Robert Allenby, Rod Pampling and Kiwi Steve Alker two shots back at -3 and in equal 31st.
Craig Parry fell away with a disappointing 6 (76) to miss the 1 cut along with Geoff Ogilvy, Gavin Coles, John Senden, James McLean and Greg Chalmers.
