Fraser finds form to lead in Madrid

While Marc Leishman dominates the WNB Classic on the other side of the Atlantic, fellow Australian Marcus Fraser shares the second round lead at the Madrid Masters alongside South African Charl Schwartzel.
Fraser is currently 101st on the European Tour’s money list and with the top 117 retaining their status and with only three further full field events remaining this season, he seems all but assured of his full status next year, but he will be keen to capitalise on his good play to date.
Fraser, who shared the lead after the opening round, was home in 30 for his round of 66 after dropping three shots late in his opening nine holes. The 30-year-old has shown signs of good form in recent weeks mixing some very good rounds with the occasional big number.
Andrew Tampion is the next best Australian after a stunning second round of 63 has him in 15th position at 4 under and five behind the lead.
Tampion won on the Challenge Tour earlier this season, is currently in 28th position on that Tour and will need a big finish in the final two events of their schedule to move inside the top 20 to secure his European Tour card for 2009.
This will offer a big boost of confidence in that regard.
