Scotland has moved to a commanding nine-stroke lead over Sweden to be at 24-under-par after solid opening eight holes on the final day of the World Amateur Team Championship being played at Royal Adelaide Golf Club.
Callum Macaulay is the standout Scottish player during the first session, moving to 4-under-par through seven holes in difficult and windy conditions. Fellow countrymen, Wallace Booth and Gavin Dear, are at even-par through six holes.
USA failed to get off to the start they needed and dropped four early strokes to be at 13-under-par and in third position, three strokes behind Sweden who have moved to be 3-under-par for the day and 16-under-par for the championship.
Pontus Widegren is at 3-under-par through nine holes to kick start the Swedish team’s move to second place.
Wallace Booth and Rickie Fowler share the lead of the individual section at 11-under-par, with Booth even with the card after seven holes. Fowler has managed to recover after his only double bogey of the Championship at the 440m, 6th hole, with a string of pars to be plus-one after eight holes.
New Zealand have slipped to be 5-over-par after the world number one, Danny Lee carded a quadruple nine on the 9th hole. They are at 7-under-par and join Australia in 5th position.
Australia is again being lead by the ever consistent Matthew Griffin, who is even par after nine holes. Tim Stewart is at plus-one after 11 holes, whilst Rohan Blizard is 2-over-par after 10.
Scotland is set to win it’s first Eisenhower Trophy since breaking away from the Great Britain and Ireland team in 2002. Scotland’s previous best finish was 6th at the last World Amateur in South Africa in 2006.
