Von Nida Tour back in action for WA PGA
BY iseekgolf.com | Von Nida Tour | 2008 Western Australian PGA Championship | Preview | 29 Oct 2008
The Oceanique WA PGA Championship starting on Thursday at The Cut heralds the countdown for the 2008 Von Nida Tour season, with just three events to go before this year’s Money List champion is crowned.
The $110,000 Oceanique WA PGA Championship will be held from October 30 – November 2 at The Cut Golf Club in Port Bouvard, and will be followed by the $100,000 Cellarbrations NSW PGA Championship at Riverside Oaks in NSW from November 6-9. The Tour season will culminate with The Vintage NSW Open at The Vintage Golf Resort in the Hunter Valley, where the Money List Champion for 2008 will be revealed.
This week, 2007 WA PGA Champion South Australian Jason Norris returns to defend his crown against a stellar line up of Aussie talent including prolific international winner and recent Handa Australia Cup champion Peter Senior and local hero and 2002 joint winner of the Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship Jarrod Moseley.
James Nitties, Brad Lamb and local boys Michael Long and Chris Gray also feature in the 144 strong playing field and are keen to be in fine form against the New Zealand contingent of Mathew Holton, Mark Purser, Hamish Robertson, Michael Hendry and Brad Shilton.
The absence of current Money List leader Victorian Heath Reed who is attending a family wedding this weekend, will leave the race wide open as the rest of the field look to close the gap in his absence. Senior and Tristan Lambert are in a three way tie for second on the Money List and will be taking to the course alongside Simon Furneaux who is also in the top ten in eighth place.
Both Senior and Lambert finished in a tie for second at the last event, the OG Roberts South Australian PGA Championship in April and are currently $8,360.00 behind Reed.
The Oceanique WA PGA Championship is the richest sporting event to be held in the Peel Region in WA and features a full week of activity including a Celebrity Pro Am, daily luncheons, The Cut Party, The Champions Cocktail Party, music and entertainment with each event, and four days of world class golfing action.
Spectators are all welcome and entry to the event is free.
