PGA debuts Norman Von Nida Trophy

The PGA of Australia today released a renewed structure, refreshed PGA Tour of Australasia brand and new television platform to compliment the 2009 “Summer of Golf” schedule release.

The 2009 PGA Tour of Australasia season will see the consolidation of the traditional PGA Tour of Australasia with the developmental Von Nida Tour, to create a single professional golf tour across Australia, spanning both metropolitan and regional centres.

This new structure will continue to deliver outstanding pathway opportunities for Australian golfers, building on the growing success of the Von Nida Tour, whilst also putting in place a platform that will allow the Tour to build upon these opportunities in 2009 and beyond.

Complimenting the release of this consolidated structure was the launch of the refreshed PGA Tour of Australasia brand, and the announcement of a dedicated television highlights package spanning all events, that will see all tournaments aired domestically on both subscription and free to air, as well as various platforms throughout the region, including China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia.

This will compliment the extensive existing live television broadcast arrangements for all existing PGA Tour events.

The Tour also announced the inception of the Norman Von Nida Order of Merit Trophy to be awarded to the first placed competitor on the Australasian Tour Money List at year’s end.
