The Hana Bank Kolon Championships was won today by Taiwan’s Candie Kung who survived a tough final round battle and a strong late charge from the inform Katherine Hull to win her fourth LPGA Tour victory and her first in five years.
Kung came from three shots behind the second round leader, In Kyung Kim, too survive what would turn into a contest where anyone of eight or so players might well have won the event.
Amy Yang has had such a stellar season on the Ladies European Tour in 2008, threatened to leapfrog her way on the LPGA Tour with a victory in this co-sanctioned event.
Yang started the day just two behind but lost her way early in the round with three bogies in her first three holes and she was gone. Yang eventually finished in a share of 9th and she will now likely return to the LPGA Tour School in September.
Tournament invite Anna Rawson did well when 29th, while Lindsey Wright finished 65th of the 67 players in the field this week.
Hull continues to shine in her breakthrough season, her recent win in Canada long with several other good tournaments of late, highlighting that fact perfectly.
The LPGA Tour will now play the Mizuno Open in Japan, an event co-sanctioned with the Japan Ladies Tour.
