Korea’s Ji Yai Shin today won the LPGA Tour’s Mizuno Classic in Japan and further confirmed her already outstanding 2008 season, this victory comes on top of the Ricoh Women’s British Open in addition to other wins in Korea and Japan.
Shin took the lead following her second round of 66 and was never threatened at any stage over the final 18 holes, an eagle at the par five 7th all but sealing the deal by the turn as her nearest challengers struggled to stay in touch.
Japan’s Mayu Hattori stayed within striking distance until the turn but any remote chance she might have had was gone with a double bogey at the 12th. Hattori was however able to hold second just ahead of Korean Eun-A Lim who birdied three of her last four holes to grab outright 3rd.
The best of the Australians, in what was an ordinary week, was Lindsey Wright who finished 31st, Nikki Campbell was 44th, Karrie Webb 63rd and Rachel Hetherington 77th.
The LPGA now returns to North America for this week’s Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico.
