Ochoa assembles star field in Mexico

The LPGA Tour is back in North America for this week’s Lorena Ochoa Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The tournament is the second last event of the 2008 season with only the ADT Championship in Florida next week left to finalise money list and other season honours.
The select 36 player field is headed by the world’s leading female golfer and tournament host Lorena Ochoa and her position in the game and the respect in which she is held has allowed her to assemble a high class field.
The woman whose mantle at the top of the game Ochoa has taken in the past eighteen months, Annika Sorenstam, is in the field and playing her penultimate event in her final year on the LPGA Tour. The three other players from the top five in the current Rolex Rankings, Yani Tseng (2), Suzann Pettersen (4) and Paula Creamer (5) are also teeing it up.
That Katherine Hull has made this field is a reflection on her breakthrough season on the LPGA Tour. A win in Canada was followed by several other good finishes and just two weeks ago she finished runner up to Candie Kung in Korea. She is the only Australian playing the event.
The tournament has a purse of US$1 million.
