Three Aussies through US PGA Stage Two

At the completion of the opening series of Stage Two qualifying for the 2009 PGA Tour, only three Australians have graduated to the Final Stage in California in early December.

Gavin Coles finished 9th at his venue in Panama City in northern Florida where Paul Gow also made it through when he finished 11th.

In Kingwood in Texas, Scott Gardiner held on despite a final round 78 and finished 18th and that was sufficient for him to gain one of the 20 places available from his venue.

A second series of Stage Two qualifying gets underway on Wednesday at two venues with a further twelve Australasians looking to advance to the Final Stage.

Nick Flanagan, Mark Hensby, Luke Hickmott, Brad Iles, David McKenzie, Phil Tataurangi, Andrew Bonhomme, Steve Bowditch, David Lutterus, Terry Pilkadaris, Aaron Townsend and Kane Webber all get their chance in either Beaumont California or in Lantana in Texas.

Townsend is currently a six shot leader of the Von Nida Tour’s New South Wales Open and is also still alive in his quest for status on the Japan Golf Tour in 2009.
