Bonhomme, Deane advance at PGA Q-School

Andrew Bonhomme and Stuart Deane are the only Australians to advance from the second series of Stage Two PGA Tour qualifying when they finished in 15th position at their venue in Texas.
Bonhomme, whose season on the Nationwide Tour in 2008 was hampered by an injury he suffered at one of the early season events, has shown some good form in recent weeks including a good result at the HSBC Champions event. He will now play the Final Stage in California starting on December 3rd.
Deane is an interesting story. Originally from Brisbane, he travelled to the US in 1996 and since that time has played mini tours and has taught in the Dallas region. His big break came in 2006 when he won the US$1 million Trump Challenge, the huge cheque setting up the chance to advance his playing career.
This result will assure at least some status on the Nationwide Tour in 2009 for Bonhomme and Deane and perhaps the possibility of playing the PGA Tour. The top 25 players at the Final Stage receive a PGA Tour card for 2009 while the others will receive a level of status on the Nationwide Tour.
At the other venue in Beaumont in California, Mark Hensby agonisingly missed the top 19 by just one shot and David McKenzie, who started the event well, fell away over the weekend and missed by four.
