The Australian team of Brendan Jones and Richard Green made a big move late in the round one fourball competition of the Omega World Cup of Golf.

At the completion of the day’s play they find themselves in second position behind the German team of Martin Kaymer and Alex Cjeka.

“We progressed pretty nicely through the front nine and hung in there I guess,” said Green. “We had a really nice run through the middle of the back nine, made most of the birdies there and it was a good feeling finishing off the way we did.” Germany’s total of 10 under par 63 at the Olazabal Course at the massive Mission Hills complex has them one ahead of Australia with Canada, USA and Spain all sharing third position.

The New Zealand team of Mark Brown and David Smail, who lead for much of the day, eventually finished with 65 and are in a share of 6th position.
