Branxton Golf Club, situated in the heart of the Hunter Valley, NSW, is ready to stage one of its best Pro Am events ever. The tournament, which is sponsored by Xstrata Coal, offers prizemoney of $18,000 and will be held on the 15th and 16th October. A large number of professionals are expected due to the revamped course.
The Pro-Am is a major fundraiser for the Westpac Helicopter Service, which is a vital link for the Hunter Valley and Coastal emergency services. From the time of its inception the Pro Am has raised over $120,000 for the Westpac Helicopter Service.
The course has undergone major changes in recent months with seven new tees being built, enabling 18 different tee directions for the men and 16 for the women on the nine hole layout. The course has received great reviews from those who have played it in recent times and offers those who love their golf an alternative whilst on holidays in the Pokolbin Wineries and Hunter Valley area, at a very reasonable price.
Other major changes have been with the first and second greens and a new practice green is currently under construction. At present the course is in magnificent condition and only will get better within the next two weeks. With only 60 playing positions available over the two day event, which are filling up quickly, the tournament will be a belter.
On the Saturday night the Pro Am dinner will take place with former Australian Fast Bowler Geoff Thompson, the guest speaker for the night.
Seats are still available at $40 per person for the three course meal and will also host an Auction, which includes an illustrated print of David Campese and other, 'Sporting Greats' memorabillia. If you would like to know more about the auction, make a booking for the dinner or a donation to the Westpac Helicopter Service ring the club on (02) 4938 1421 or wish to play in the event phone the Club Professional Joel McDougall on (02) 4938 2155.
