Cool and overcast conditions at Masters

Overcast and cool conditions welcomed in the early starters on day three of the Sporstbet Masters but they are conditions that are presenting scoring opportunities.
With such a congested leaderboard, where only eight shots separate the leader and those who just made the cut, any player capable of taking advantage of the early morning conditions could well find themselves in contention at the completion of 54 holes.
Finland’s Antti Ahokas was one such player moving to 4 underfor the day and three under for the tournament through 15 holes. Local Brad lamb is another doing well and through 13 holes he too had moved from the cut line to a share of 20th at three under.
New Zealander Steve Alker, who on Thursday opened with what appeared to be a round that would count him out of weekend work (75) followed up with a second round of 68 and birdied three of his first four holes of round three to move to 4 under and into 11th place when he had done so.
The final group of Tim Clark and Anthony Summers will not tee off until 1.21pm local time but it may well be that by then there place at or near the top of the leaderboard is under serious threat.
