Bryden Macpherson’s course record equalling 8-under-par 64 during the opening round of The Dunes Medal gives the talented Victorian a four stroke lead over the rest of the field at the National Trial event currently being played at The Dunes Golf Club on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.

“It was tough out there this morning and then as we were finishing the wind just died,” said Beckmann.
“The course was set up like a final day, so I’m pleased to have limited any damage with my score.”
Scott Arnold was another pleases to have the first round out of the way.
“It was a three club difference earlier on,” said the world number 34.
“Bryden’s 64 is a fantastic score with the way they had the pins set up out there today. He’ll take some catching, but I’m looking forward to going out there tomorrow and scoring low.”
Macpherson, 18, is a member of the Victorian Institute of Sport golf program and already an Australian Junior representative at this year’s Trans Tasman Cup. Last June he qualified for the match play rounds at the 2008 US Junior Championship.
