BY Bruce Young | Southern Africa Tour | 2008 Nedbank Golf Challenge | Preview | 03 Dec 2008
Sergio Garcia heads the field of twelve world class golfers at the Nedbank Challenge being played at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City in South Africa.
The world number two golfer will be looking to continue a remarkable run of form that has seen him finish inside the top five in seven of his last eight starts worldwide.
The Spanaird, who is a two time winner of this event, will be looking to cap off a superb year, which has seen him establish himself as the deserved second ranked player in the word behind the recuperating Tiger Woods.
The Swedish pair of Robert Karlsson and Henrik Stenson, fresh from their victory at the World Cup in China last week, will be full of confidence following their sensational last round of 63 in the foursomes in China. Given the year both have had, especially Robert Karlsson, either could add to their significant pay packet earned last week.
Lee Westwood is another who has enjoyed a brilliant season in 2008 and could well finish of his year in style.
The tournament carries a huge purse of US$1.2 million to the winner but don’t feel too sorry for the player finishing in last place, he earns US$200,000.
