Sarah Kemp is off to a positive start after the first round of the USLPGA qualifying tournament, sitting in T17 position.

Playing on the Legends Course at LPGA International in Florida, Kemp fired a one under round of 71. Joining her on one under is Anna Rawson, while rookie pro, Kristie Smith is a shot back on even par.

Smith will play the Champions course tomorrow and will be hoping to improve her current standing in T33rd. So too will Michelle Ellis who is currently on two over in T72 while Sarah Oh has a tough day ahead of her tomorrow, sitting on +4 and in T101st position.

After 72 holes the field will be cut to the top 70 and ties. The tournament boasts plenty of names familiar to world golf including Michelle Wie who fired a three under round of 69 to be tied for 6th. The leader is Japanese LPGA star Shiho Oyama, who fired off a superb 8 under round of 64 on the Champions Course.

The fifth and final day will be a fierce shootout with the top 20 earning a coveted tour card on the lucrative USLPGA circuit.
