Aussies in the mix at PGA Q-School

The opening round of the six-round marathon that is Final Stage PGA Tour qualifying has been completed at the PGA West golfing facility in La Quinta in California.

Three players have opened with rounds of 65 to lead the event. Craig Kanada and Joey Lamielle played their rounds at the Jack Nicklaus Tournament course while Major Manning played the TPC layout at PGA West.

Gavin Coles, Scott Gardiner and James Nitties were the best of the Australians with opening rounds of 69 while Matt Jones, Stuart Deane and Adam Bland recorded rounds of 71.

Paul Gow and Andrew Bonhomme sit on 72, Steve Allan 73, Jason Day and Won Joon Lee 74 and Andrew Buckle 75.
