James Nitties continues to head the field of 163 hopefuls at the Final Stage of PGA Tour qualifying, his third round of 69 putting him in the share of the lead with PGA Tour veteran Glen Day.
Nitties played the Stadium course in today’s third round and as he had done in Wednesday’s opening round over the same layout, recorded a round of three under.
Gavin Coles and Scott Gardiner stayed in touch with the top 25 when they each recorded rounds of 70 and are in a share of 36th position.
Steve Allan was the big mover amongst the Australians when he added a third round of 66 to improve 64 places to 49th.
Allan, who went agonisingly close to avoiding Tour School before blundering at the final hole at the Frys.com event, recorded a double bogey at his 15th hole today but there were eight further birdies.
Brisbane golfer, Stuart Deane, crept a little closer with a round of 69 and is in 65th position as is Matt Jones. Won Joon Lee continued his improvement after a slow start and is in 85th position, Andrew Bonhomme kept his hopes alive with a round of 66 to be 102nd along with Jason Day and Adam Bland while Andrew Buckle and Paul Gow are languishing in 136th position.
