PGA Tour qualifying has reached a crucial stage with just one round to play and so much up for grabs in tomorrow’s sixth and final round at la Quinta in California.
Several Australians are still well placed to secure one of the PGA Tour cards handed out at tomorrow’s ceremony to the leading 25 players and ties.
James Nitties continued his outstanding run in this event when he produced a round of 67 to move into second position and barring accidents tomorrow his rapid rise looks set to continue.
Nitties and Derek Fathauer trail the tearaway leader, Harrison Frazar by five shots but they have a break of three over the 4th placed veterans Glen Day and John Huston.
Andrew Bonhomme made a huge move on day five with a round of 65 to jump from 106th to 50th and kept his chances alive. He will likely need a round of 68 or better tomorrow if he is to achieve his goal.
Won Joon Lee and Jason Day also improved their chances with rounds of 68 to be tied with Bonhomme.
Steve Allan slipped from 42nd to 61st with his round of 73, Gavin Coles and Scott Gardiner lost ground to be in 77th position, Matt Jones is 108th, Adam Bland 117th, Andrew Buckle 146th and Stuart Deane 146th.
