Warman, Ash lead Norman Junior Masters

BY iseekgolf.com | Junior Golf Tour | 2008 Greg Norman Junior Masters | Round Three | 17 Dec 2008

Western Australian Jamie Warman (Gosnells) and South Australian Emma Ash (Kooyonga) will lead the Boys and Girls sections respectively when they tee off in tomorrow’s final round of the 2008 Greg Norman Junior Masters at Coolangatta Tweed Heads.

Ash holds a three stroke lead over Ashley Ona (Concord) after carding three rounds of one-under par 72 to be at three-under par after the 54 holes. Amazingly 13 year old Annie Choi remains in touch with the leader after another excellent round of two-over par 75, and is just four shots behind.

Warman leads by four shots at seven-under par from Taylor MacDonald (Redcliffe) after another solid performance today returning a one-under par 71. MacDonald fired a disappointing 76 today but will be hoping that his bad round is behind him.

A further two shots back are are Cameron Smith (Wantima), Paul Barjon (New Caledonia) and Bobin Kang (Arundel Hills), who will obviously be hoping for a hot start tomorrow if they are to catch Warman.

The leaders of the age divisions are:

  • Girls 17 Years and Under – Emma Ash – 216 (-3)
  • Boys 17 Years and Under – Jamie Warman – 209 (-7)
  • Girls 15 Years and Under – Ellie Na – 221 (+2)
  • Boys 15 Years and Under – Cameron Smith – 215 (-1)
  • Girls 13 Years and Under – Annie Choi – 220 (+1)
  • Boys 13 Years and Under – Jordan McCarthy – 219 (+3)

Jordan McCarthy who leads the 13 Years and Under division will be looking to become the first player to win his age division 3 years in a row. McCarthy won this event two years ago at the age of 11.

Viraat Badhwar, also 13 years of age returned the days lowest round of three-under par 69. He will be looking for another great round tomorrow to make up the five shot lead that McCarthy holds overnight.

The final round will commence at 6:45am (NSW time) and the final groups will tee off at approximately 8:45am. The Championship presentation will take place following the close of play, expected to be approximately 1:30pm.
