After the rigours of Muirfield, Holland in July will seem like a holiday camp for those in this field who coped with the pounding they received in Scotland last week.

Defending champion Bernhard Langer will be there although his form this season is some way from the outstanding season he had in 2001. He missed his last two cuts in Ireland and Scotland prior to the British Open and, despite a better showing at Muirfield, he is still struggling.

Also in the field will be John Daly, Retief Goosen, Lee Westwood, Padraig Harrington and Nick Faldo from the elite of the European Tour along with the Australian Stephen Leaney, who has made this event virtually his in recent years. Leaney has won twice and was ninth last year in his last three starts in this event.

Other Australasians in the field vying for the 300,000 euro first prize will be Peter Lonard, Peter O’Malley, Lucas Parsons, Nick O’Hern, Richard Green, Greg Turner, Brett Rumford, Jarrod Moseley, Stephen Scahill, Peter Fowler and Elliott Boult.
