Rachel Teske has often lived, rightly or wrongly, in the shadow of Karrie Webb’s great achievements on the LPGA Tour but if she were in a different era then she would be being heralded as one of Australia’s finest golfers of either sex. There are no Australians, other than Webb, who have had six wins on either tour in the US in the last six years and Teske deserves a lot more recognition than she has received. This win may go some way towards righting that wrong.

She now has earnings of $US2,470,000 in that time. Not bad at all, but it is somewhat of a sad reflection on the relative strengths of the respective tours that Stewart Ginn who won his first event on the Seniors Tour this week should have earned nearly as much as Teske in less than three years and with only the one win.

Teske won from rookie Beth Bauer with Karrie Webb and Laura Diaz. Michelle Ellis, getting better all the time, was 17th following a last round 64, Shani Waugh also 17th, Fiona Pike 34th, Wendy Doolan 56th after a third round 80 followed by a final round 66 and Karen Pearce also 56th.
