In victory Harman not only produced a life changing week but he has also earned his first start at next week's Open Championship, the leading player in this week's event inside the top five and not otherwise qualified for Royal Liverpool on his way to England.
Harman is into his third season on the PGA Tour, the 27 year old Georgian having finished twice 3rd in earlier efforts at this level including when 3rd at Riviera earlier this season.
Harman held off a strong finish by Johnson who was looking for his second victory in the event and a continuation of a series of great finishes at the TPC Deere Run. Johnson joined Harman in the lead briefly before Harman birdied the 14th, 15th and 16th and although he three putted to last Harman had established a big enough cushion to hold on.
Jhonattan Vegas and Jerry Kelly tied for 3rd with the talented Vegas falling just short of the required amout he needs to regain his PGA Tour status after shoulder surgery last year.
Steve Bowditch finished as the leading Australian when he tied for 11th while Greg Chalmers was next best in 37th position.
Bowditch takes his season earnings to US$1,550,000 for the season.
