World number three Stacy Lewis has a one shot lead over the 4th ranked woman female golfer, Lydia Ko and Frenchwoman Karine Icher as the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic enters the weekend at the Lake Merced Golf Club in San Francisco.

Lewis added a second consecutive 69 to be on track for her first win since the British Open Championship last August although in between times she has been six times a runner-up.

Ko, who turned 17 on Thursday, has been a little indifferent with her form of late but she has putted well this week and is well placed to take her second Swinging Skirts title having won the equivalent event on the Korean LPGA Tour in Augusta of last year shortly after turning professional.

World number one, Inbee Park, moved into contention last on day two with a round of 68 to be within three of the lead.

The leading Australians through 36 holes are all tied in 38th position namely Sarah Jane Smith, Karrie Webb and Katherine Kirk
