With just this and two other events remaining before the female game's greatest event, the US Women's Open at Pinehurst, the event takes on even greater significance as the best in the female game prepare for the second major of the year.
Former winner Stacy Lewis will start the favourite despite a comparatively poor week by her standards last week but her form has been so impressive over so long that she must be the favourite to not only win the title but go very close to taking the number one position in the game.
The present incumbent, Inbee Park, is in the field also this week although world number three Lydia Ko is not, perhaps timing her run into the US Open.
Lexi Thompson and So Yeon Ryu are both in good form at present and have form on the golf course and should be considered as chances this week, as should Michelle Wie whose increasingly consistent game appears ready to serve up more victories for her.
The Australians in the field are Karrie Webb, Katherine Kirk, last week's runner-up Sarah Jane Smith, Lindsey Wright, Sarah Kemp and Julia Boland.
