The PGA today confirmed that Scott has committed to contend the 2014 Australian PGA Championship to be played from December 11-14 at RACV Royal Pines Resort.
"Whenever you're defending you always want to return and relive all those good experiences from the previous years but particularly when you're returning home to Australia and also the Gold Coast which is my home," said Scott from the United States.
"It was an amazing week last year coming home and playing in front of everyone, so many friends and family out there but the support was great and I'm really looking forward to coming back this year."
Last year Scott overcame American young gun Rickie Fowler to claim the PGA title by four strokes to the delight of strong crowds at RACV Royal Pines.
It was a special win for Scott whose father Phil is a long-time PGA Professional.
"There's a lot of special meaning with the PGA of Australia being part of our family and so much a part of my Dad's Professional life. It was starting to annoy me that I hadn't won (the Joe Kirkwood Cup) because I wanted to win it for him and to have finally done that last year was very satisfying, probably for both of us."
Scott says he's also looking forward to seeing the re-vamped RACV Royal Pines layout which, by the time of the tournament, will have undergone significant re-modelling and re-shaping on the front nine.
"Royal Pines has been one of the leading resorts in the area for such a long time and of course everything needs to evolve and be updated as the modern equipment moves on and as it's hosting tournament of the PGA stature," added Scott.
"So hopefully it's going to be a really tough test this year. They did a great job with it last year but the improvements should make it that much better."
Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games, Jann Stuckey welcomed the return of Scott to the highly anticipated Gold Coast tournament.
"The Gold Coast provides the perfect playground for golfing enthusiasts. Adam Scott's return is sure to be a strong visitor drawcard for this year's championship," said Ms Stuckey.
"The Australian PGA Championship was a success in its inaugural year on the Gold Coast in 2013. Now, as the final tournament for the 2014 professional golf season, the event will be bigger and better than ever."
"The Queensland Government's 20-year plan for Tourism, Destination Success, recognises the importance of events such as this in driving visitation to regional destinations."
Last year's tournament provided a fairytale finish for Adam and tournament organisers with Australia's first Masters champion able to show off his coveted green jacket for the first time on home soil.
This year organisers say they plan to build on the success of the inaugural year, cementing the Australian PGA Championship as one of the Gold Coast's most iconic sporting events.
"The Gold Coast is the perfect location for a world-class sporting event and we're looking forward to returning at the end of the year," said Brian Thorburn, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA.
"As the final event on the PGA Tour of Australasia schedule this year's Championship will be a week-long celebration of Australian golf with 2014 already one of the most successful years on record in terms of our international achievements."
During today's announcement Scott also confirmed he will defend his title at the Australian Masters in Melbourne (November 20-13) and compete in the Australian Open in Sydney (November 27 - 30) before finishing his season at home on the Gold Coast.
