There is little doubting the quality of the form Woods has shown when he has played in recent months, winning twice and being placed inside the top ten on six other occasions in his last 11 starts worldwide.
His problem might be however that he has not played for over a month although several others in the 18 man field are in similar circumstances.
Woods starts the favourite given his current form and that he has been either first or second in this event in each of the last three times he has played.
Nick Watney, Bo Van Pelt and Matt Kuchar are others who might potentially upset the hosts party.
Jason Day is the only Australian in the field. It has not been a great season on the golf course for the Queenslander but he became a father earlier this year and with that behind him he might just finish the season off well.
