Nick Watney has won the opening event of the 2012 FedEx Cup final series, The Barclays, with a three shot victory over Brandt Snedeker at Bethpage Black in Farmington in New York.
With a two shot lead over Sergio Garcia and Snedeker playing the final hole, the possibility still existed for a playoff but Watney sealed the deal when he birdied from 11 feet to finish three ahead of Snedeker and four ahead of Garcia and Dustin Johnson.
