Club Tee times
Played here last Thursday 29Aug19 and found the course challenging and loved the lay-out. Fortunate enough to meet a member of the club who is very nice and friendly and joined me in my round. There's plenty of water hazards and bunkers but that makes playing golf interesting. Bunkers are good and clean, and the greens are equally good so no complaints on that. Will play here again. Highly recommended....

Played recently, course was in fantastic condition tee to green, bunkers were a bit ordinary. The only negative would be the amount of unrepaired pitch marks on the greens, would repair a few on every hole and still didn't make a difference.
Fantastic layout and a very enjoyable course.
Played off the back march 14th
You cant ask for more out of a golf course
Course/condition /layout great
Proshop ok without being fantadtic
not and staff very helpful
Greens were superb and in my opinion they are the best on the Coast by a long way. Had my best every round today so as a consequence I have no complaints at all. I look forward to my next visit knowing that I'll struggle to match today's round but, will be having a crack at it none the less. Well done to the Green Keeping staff!
What a great course! Great food, cold beer, staff looked after us wonderfully,
Great deal!I always play Glades because of the great layout but today it was really unenjoyable because of the time to play. 5.5 hours is just ridiculous. No marshall to keep the speed of play going. We had a social group in front of us which was full of inconsiderate and really bad golfers. I just dont understand how courses can justify $80 for a round and not keep the round moving. It makes a mockery of the stickers they put on the cart windscreens which say a group of 4 should play in 4hrs 20mins. Will probably choose another course next time I'm on the coast.
Enjoyed the course but the wait on each hole was very long. They had social clubs playing with no Marshall on course so very frustrating.
I would be reluctant to play here again due to slow play over 5 hours and no course management to speed up the very slow playersFantastic course took my 9 year old son with me and only wants to play the glades from now on!! Great set up easy to find your way around and very challenging but enjoyable!!
A thouroughly enjoyable golf course. Not too penalising on wayward shots. Fairways were in excellent condition. Greens were very soft after the rain, but were still quite fast and deceptive.
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left it was a great experience.
The rain teemed but the layout of the course was magic.
Looking forward to playing it again when it is dry!!
What can I say, very good course. well kept all over, very forgiving, soft greens. At the same time very enjoyable and not all that difficult, provided you go straight !!
Played day after the bad storm. They were working on the grounds. In general they were good condition. Greens were a bit rough.
Excellent course thats very hard to score well. Lots of slow play, which I'm guessing is because the course is so popular with overseas visitors. The greens were in need of TLC whilst fairways were good but due to a lot of recent rain there was many wet & soggy patches.
Without a doubt one of the best golf courses on the Gold Coast. The greens are sensational, run very true and are soft and the fairways are manicured beautifully. Always recommend the Glades, if I could afford membership I'd play there every day. I'd rate it 10/10
too difficult to be enjoyable to high handicapper. An overkill with bunkers.we booked at $59each so worth it,at full price there are cheaper courses just as good.
played the glades just before christmas, course was in great condition, good fast greens. staff were very courteous and helpful, could,nt want for a better day.
looked after great and the course was in great nick.would play there every week at that price.
The course is in great condition and at iseekgolf special rates has to be one of the best value courses around. I had family from overseas and we played it twice in three days and enjoyed the experience. The fairways were sensational as were the greens which gave full value for on line approach shots. The staff are also very professional I would highly recommend The Glades to anyone.
The Glades was very busy at this time of year and partnered us up with another couple. They also sent us to the tenth tee to start off with.
The course was in top condition and stood at the tee with total confidence. The greens were fast but were in great condition. The only thing i had noticed that if you weren't on the fairway it was hard to judge a distance to the green as there distance markers were on the sprinker heads.
I totally enjoyed the round of golf and rate it 9/10. I would play there agaian and again.
A pleasure to play as always, great service from beginning to end, we will be back again asap.
Playing the Glades was an experience. From the middle tees it was comfortable for a 17 handicapper but the back tees would have been a long day.
The staff and general facilities were excellent
Terrific golf course with very friendly, helpful staff. Course was in great nick. No drinking water available however, which was disappointing.
Had a great day. Good lay-out, good challenge and the course is in great condition. Only downside were the 4 members follow us, landed several balls on 4 holes close to us without warning. Could understand if we were slow, but we could only go as fast as the 2 players in front of us and we didn't think they were travelling any slower than normal.
My friend and I are only hackers but we play in a social club once a month & we loved this course it's challenging it's different & it looks a lot harder than it is. The course was in magnificent condition one of the best we have played on. Very enjoyable.
Soft greens that do mark badly. Would help if more people fixed their pitch marks. Course in overall very good condition. A good Norman design. Rewards good play doesn't punish you ovrly bad for the odd stray. Even a real hacker can have a good day out here.
Played The Glades 15/12/08 always a good course to play one of my favorites. The greens were a bit below average due to the traffic of christmas parties and lack of golf etiquette these events bring. Can't wait until the holidays are over so the course can return to normal. All in all still a good course service is always good.
Great to return played in 2001 just after it opened (club was on 12th tee in a house), unfortunately very windy when played Sun Nov 23 which made it a bit tough esp. on some putts & longer water carries (helped on others) & caused a few issues (balls that sink) when water was around. Very friendly on arrival & young asst pro in shop very heplful, was advised to let a social group get clear & surprisingly no one booked for 45 mins after us so had a very clear unrushed venture.
Course has matured well (trees growing etc.) & still a good test & lived up to my memories loved the greens still think they are the best on the GC well they are like Sydney's and the grain not so influential as the others up there generally course was in A1 condition happy to return.
Would rate it in top 3 on GC (excl Arundel private ) but a bit more expensive than others on rack rate
Found the course in excellent condition all round. Greens smooth and reasonably paced. Fairways etc in excellent nick too. Played course for a discounted fee $79 instead of the advertised $130 (which I would not have considered paying anyway). All up a pleasure to play.
Not only a fantastic golf corse (quality and design) but also with top shelf service. No hesitation to recomend to any one to attend The glades golf corse. My mate and I had an extreamly enjoyable time, and will be back, with friends.
Regards Mr M J Cross.
Great course in layout and nobody would be dissapointed at all as it is one of the best on the coast most definatley. i have played this several times now and never dissapointed as the blacks are hard as and the golds are still long but it makes par 5's goable yet still tough. make sure you go as you will love it and the sercice is brillant.
Nice course, but no ice in card ice box and mobile drinks cart met us at 1st hole, but not then unyil 15th hole we were hot!!!
Don't play here unless you can afford to come back every other day. You won't want to play anywhere else. Just a note, distances from black, gold and silver tee positions are on your scorecard, no need to guess.
We invited some clients for a game at the Glades (3 groups of 4). The course was in great shape even though the coast has had a lot of rain recently. The higher markers struggled a little off the black tees, but still enjoyed the experience.
The staff at the club house orginised a tab for us which helped to make the day more enjoyable for the clients, and the on course drinks cart made a special trip to ensure our groups had everything they needed.
The Pro shop made sure the prizes presented well.
Overall we had a fantastic day.
Very nice course.Wide open fairways, large undulating greens, large deep bunkers. Very well maintained course, friendly staff. Nowhere near and demanding as the Brookwater layout but a fair test for most.
Played early sunday morning after heavy rain that morning. Course has excellent drainage and was in pristine condition. Rain was a bonus as it slowed up the normally super fast greens. Staff were helpful and very courteous given that we were running late due to the weather. Electric carts are brand new Definately one of the best courses on the Gold Coast.
36 degrees on course and very muggy. Glades was in outstanding condition and is a fantastic course, especially off the back tees. Love the wide open fairways, silky smooth greens and even the bunkers were as good as a bunker could be, although there a lot of them.
Played the course immediately after recent heavy rain and was extremely impressed with the quality of the course and greens. Staff were all curteous and professional (even though I was an hour later for my tee time thanks to QLD non-daylight saving!!) Cart was brand new, and this would now be my favourite course on the Gold Coast
The glades is my favourite course on the Goldy. It is always in great condition and has a great layout. I normally like to play it off the blacks, but we played yesterday off the "easier" gold plates. Off the golds is a lot more enjoyable for the higher handicappers. The service was fantastic on arrival and the quality of the course and facilities is fantastic. I would recommend highly.
Really enjoyed the course. Staff were excellant. I have a new favorite golf course!
Played golf at The Glades last weekend, the golf shop staff (starts with a Y)*cant remember) should be commended as he was professional at his job, service was excellent, the bag drop service was great. Course was presented in good condition. Greens were outstanding! only down side was the carts has seen better days.
The upside, new carts are on their way with all the bells and whistles I have been told . looking forward for that experience in the next few weeks!
Despite booking at a discounted' rate on iseekgolf, all of the staff at The Glades treated us with courtesy and madee us more than welcome. The course was in magnificant condition, no restrictions on buggy usage despite the region experiencing the "worst storms in 30 years". I will certainly return
I hadn't played here for a long time and was more than pleased with how the course has held up. As per most other reviews the greens are the only thing I didn't like, they are completely different to most other courses. Everything else was forst class and the online price made it well worth it.
Great welcome, thoroughly enjoyed the course and clubhouse-one of the best on the Gold Coast
Great course, loved it. We played Hope Island and the Glades and I preferrd the Glades (although not by much). Great service, interesting course mostly in excellent condition (although as some have noted the soft greens result in deep pitch mraks and thus lots of dead patches).
Good discount through iseek I probably wouldn't pay full whack although all the courses in the area seem a bit overpriced. Overall a great day.
Great golf course. In excellent condition. Pro shop staff and bag drop people very helpfull. Would play here again.
found the glades to be in need of a good freshen upa beautiful course but not a 5 starmaybe 3 stargreens were very ordinarybumps from unrepaired and ill repaired divotsplayed our first nine in 1 and a 1/2 hoursgot to the 10th teeand all of a sudden 2 groups of 3 teeing offor trying toback nine took over 3 hours to play.so how they snuck in there in front of us was so disappointingwould be worth $60.00 dollars topsfelt more like a public course.
Played 11/10/08 for second time. Great layout and overall condition is excellant.Playing from the middle tees made it an enjoyable round.Greens were nearly back to best after reno's. They do have a problem with divots from being softer then southern bent greens.Rating of 8.5/10.Good service from shop and green staff.
absolutely fabulous course, the service we received was outstanding, please go and find the young man that kept us up to date with progress on the course (we were a two and there were 6's in front of us) he did a superb job. he needs to be given a big wrap
A very enjoyable day, good challenging course, picturesque holes, and great service. Lke a previous comment above, i would have expected GPS on the carts given the green fees are comparable to courses such as Brookwater. The reduced green fees through iseekgolf make it somewhat acceptable, but i wouldnt pay the rack rate to play again. Paring the 17th hole from the Championship markers made it worthwhile.
I have played most courses on the Gold Coast and The glades is by far the best course on the Gold Coast. The staff, the condition of course are always excellent but the best thing about The Glades is the greens. Use a ball with lots of spin and have some real fun. Will be back again and again.
We played Sat 27/9/08. Great service from the staff upon arrival [Adam was great!]. Beautiful facilities and restaurant. We played off the black tees and it was a great challenge. On nearly all of the holes your course management had to be spot on. There were some really long par 3's and par 4's and the approach to the greens were always challenge. The fairways were in excellent condition and the bunkers were well cared for. We are all high handicappers and we still enjoyed the challenging course.
My only neutral/negative comment would be that the greens had just been scored and that the pro shop failed to mention that when we made the bookings. This essentially made puttng a lottery.
First time on GC & played Royal Pines Mon 15th Sept, very impressed. Played Hope Island Tues 16th and thought we had gone to "golfers heaven". Played The Glades on Wed 17th and were convinced we were still there. There is a WOW factor about this place. Even though the greens had been cored on the Monday prior and were a "bit average" we absolutely loved the place, so much so we went back and played it again regardless. Many thanks to the guys at iseekgolf for all their assistance. Well done.
The course was in great shape and the staff were fantastic. Very friendly and very helpful. Worth every bit!
What a great golf coarse. Must go back. The Pro Shop failed to inform us that there was no drink cart operating therefore we played nine holes with out any drinks ( including water). They should at least have a sign in Pro Shop or on Ist Tee.
great track best greens i've played ontrue .. $130 price tag too much end of the day it's only a golf course for what you get it's not worth it. my opinion.
A very well maintained and very aesthetically pleasing course. Well set out to be challenging. Unfortunately had to cut the round short after finishing the 10th hole due to a niggling back injury but will not hesitate to go back and play in the very near future.
The staff were great, due to a shotgun start commencing at the similar time to my scheduled tee off, they kindly gave me 2 buckets to hit at the range.
Picturesque and challenging are the two words that spring to mind with this course.
Was on the coast for the a days of golf. Played Glades, Hope Island, Robina and Tweed Heads – River course.
Course was in great condition (despite recent rains) // staff was friendly and helpful and the greens are amongst the best I’ve encountered (fast and true).
Hope Island was my favourite on the coast, but it would be the Glades now.
I play the Glades quite often, due to 3 things. The course has a great layout, the fairways and hazards are in great nick and they are by far the best greens on the Coast. I can’t believe that a couple of the reviews listed here state the contrary. I have played the other courses that are mentioned in that review, and loving each one for different reasons, cannot believe that someone would think the Glades is the worst of the 4. I repeat, best greens on the Coast, receptive and run true.
Played the course in early March and was surprised how well the condition of the fairways and greens were after the floods. Got a good morning and a smile from the staff member out front even though we pulled up in a Vic plated Toyota. Staff in the pro-shop were also very curtious and accomadating toward us. Had our hire clubs and cart ready to roll. Enjoyed the golf very much and for a high handicapper scored well. Only time I would play this sort of course is if on holiday, trade day or if someone else shouted.
Played the Glades in mid March 08 and this is by far the best course I have played on the Gold Coast. The condition and speed of the greens where great and from the back tees this golf course is very testing and very enjoyable. The $130 price tag is a bit steep but compared to some of its rivals it seems good value. The staff were very helpful and the food was excellent. The whole environment was relaxed and welcoming and I really enjoyed my day at The Glades.
Dear DarenG, I played the Glades today, and lets get one thing straight, the bar staff was awesome. reason for attitude towards you, was probably because you are hard work. your attitude was inappropriate and expect them to slave to you. Time to wake up, get real, live in the 21st century!!F nuckle
Played here on Sunday 24.02.08. Excellent course, especially for my level of experience. Forgiving in parts and merciless at other times. Greens were the highlight of the course. Maintained in excellent condition. Reception was good, pro-shop very good – bar staff need a big attitude adjustment. At 11.30am looking for a drink before play, and you would have thought I asked for her 1st born with attitude I got from her.
Great Golf course staff in golfshop, bagdrop and restaurant great! Walla and BigKev has issues with yardage markers? They are everywhere!
All to the middle of the green! They are on every spinkler head and sand plates on the fairways! Pace of play? was awesome, they had a field of 165, we still got round in 4 hours.
One mention, if you decide to play behind a corporate day!get a life!expect those sorta rounds anywhere, even if its a par 3 course!wake up
all in all, The Glades, AWESOME!
Having played the Glades early in January 08, when SE Qld was under water, I was very pleased with the course and its ability to drain. On the whole the Glades is a fantastic layout with some picture perfect holes.
I play the “Glades” Golf Course on a regular weekly basis and having played most courses on the Gold Coast found the Glades to be an absolute pleasure to play. With fabulous bent grass greens and excellent fairways there are challenges on just about every one of the eighteen holes that will keep the average player to Professionals thinking about their shot making talents. If you are heading to the Coast for a golf break this course should be on your list of things to do.
Very over rated and not value for money. We played 4 courses over the long weekend and this was the poorest of them. The greens were bumpy and slow and the distance markers don’t exist. I think that of the courses I have played up in this area you would be much better off playing Robina Woods or Hope Island for that sort of coin. also 5+ hrs is not much fun….Nothing special about the course in my book.
Couldnt agree more with previous comment by Bigkev. I played Brookwater,Robina Woods, Hope Island and the Glades over the long weekend and this was by far the worst of them. The greens were absolutely sub-standard and the distance markers non-existant. My group based our course selection over the weekend on some of the comments made in these forums and cant believe some of these people played the same course! Course uninspiring – would not go back here again.
This is a more than memorable course. Fantastic layout that is beautifully presented. Lush fairways. The greens were spectacular – the tropical bent grass is a delight to putt on. The course is 9/10.
Unfortunately the course management was terrible. It took 6 hrs which is unacceptable when you are paying such good money. We did not see a course official until the 17th hole and he really didn’t care how long we had to wait and was more concerned about the corporate day hacks in front of us. Each hole had at least 3 groups waiting to tee up. This needs considerable improvement. With so many good courses on the coast I won’t be back until this improves.
without doubt the best course I have played anywhere .Its layout condition, scenery, and service all excellent.the next time I can afford it Iwill play it again.
The Glades Golf Course on Queensland's Gold Coast has already, in just nine short months since its opening, established itself as one of, if not the premiere golf course in this golfing mecca.
Although officially opened in December 2000 the course had the luxury of being ready for play for eighteen months prior to that time due in part to its original South Korean developer falling victim to the woes of the Asian financial crisis. The condition in which the course was opened reflects the opportunity the maintenance team had to allow the course to mature without the pressure of having it opened for play before time.
The publically listed Australian company, Thakral, purchased the course and its surrounding real estate land from the Koreans in 1999 and in late 2000, a consortium made up of a group which included the Queensland golfer Ian Baker Finch, purchased the course.
The thing that struck me about the course is that despite its, at times, dramatic and dynamic appearance it is very playable. Although I have played the course but twice I have found it very easy to remember the layout and the characteristics of each hole, another sign of a good golf course.
The secret to many a good design is to make the course look more difficult than it actually plays and if this was the designer Greg Norman's intent, then he has succeeded. It is aesthetically pleasing with Norman utilising his almost trademark full face bunkering and contrasting grasses to not only direct play but to add a certain dynamism to the course. There are 99 bunkers on the course.
A4 bent grass has been used on the greens. Other Gold Coast courses have struggled with bent as this is almost the transition zone geographically in terms of climate for that grass but this is a strain that is a lot more heat and humidity tolerant than others that have been tried here and the exposed nature of the site allows for a lot more air movement. The quality and speed of the greens are as good as it gets anywhere.
The present layout and numbering is not as originally intended or as it will be in the future. A temporary clubhouse (although many courses would be pleased to have it) has dictated that the course begins with what will eventually, on completion of the main clubhouse, become the par three thirteenth. A hole measuring some two hundred metres, it is not the ideal start but this will change when the new clubhouse is completed and the course returns to its intended layout. The first hole when that happens is a relatively short (328 metres) par four with a generous fairway to open proceedings. A heavily contoured and small green awaits a short iron approach so an interesting but enjoyable opening.
There are some fabulous golf holes that await beyond with my favourites being (original layout) the par four second, the par three third, the par five seventh and the par three seventeenth. It's hard to single out a signature hole on the course, as there are so many good ones, but for mine it may well become the seventeenth, not a long par three (147 metres) but water short and left of the green and a subtle ridge that divides the green from front to back make par a difficult task for those that miss the target from the tee.
Not only is the playing of the course a pleasant experience but the service also offers as good as you will find anywhere. Managed by the US company Troon Golf the welcome guests receive from staff on arrival leaves those playing the course for the first time feeling completely at home and undaunted by the occasion. The little things as they say mean a lot and the small gifts such as the impressive bag tag add to the experience.
Of course such service and such a facility comes at a price and the Glades is the most expensive on the Coast so I guess you could and should expect nothing less than the best. Deals of sorts are available at certain times of the day and a call to the Glades will provide more information.
The Glades is already creating and setting standards for golf in Queensland. The introduction of US based companies such as Troon Golf, Clubcorp, American Golf and IMG in Australia and the competitive nature of the business here will ensure that the high standards those organisations have introduced will remain.
It may be that the cost of a round of golf here is outside the realm of most golfers on a regular basis but even if you do it only once you should try the Glades. One would imagine that it will not be long before significant PGA Tour events are being played here. Greg Norman's ownership of the PGA Championship in conjunction with SFX and his already expressed desire to rotate such around courses which bear his design, will ensure that The Glades will have the opportunity to host an event should they so wish in the not too distant future. It will indeed make a great tournament course and venue.
The future plans include the aforementioned spectacular clubhouse currently under construction and an adjacent boutique lodge which is sure to be a great attraction for both corporate and individual golfers.
Well after teeing off at 12:15 and only getting 15 holes in before darkness, I guess disappointment was going to be my reaction to The Glades.
I have noticed Troon golf no longer manage The Glades. So that might be the reason that it was not what I expected after playing The Vintage earlier this year.
The course itself was not that bad with only the greens were not to standard, they were slow and bumpy.
Will have to go back and see if my day was an out of the ordinary one.
Excellent all-round condition makes the course a pleasure to play. Some attractive holes on the front nine (see below) although some fairways are probably too wide to be a good test of golf.
My group presented early in case we could start earlier, but the tee was fully booked. After hitting off about 18 minutes late, we took just on 2 3/4 hours to complete the 1st nine before abandoning the 2nd nine. I recommend playing the course, but in the morning. Would play again sometime.
Played 15/02/05
If you want to feel like a millionaire (or you are one) this is for you. Lush fairways, true greens (only ones of their type outside Victoria so I was told) and a challenge around every corner which is what a lot of golfers want. Just a bit daunting for this 20 odd handicapper.
Probably deserving of five stars but cost compared to similar standard courses on the coast plus the lack of a laid back, Aussie feel drops it for me.
One of those "I've played there" boasting courses.
The Relic
Played at the Glades early last week, and was most impressed with the condition of the course, and the treatment by the staff there. Most enjoyable day. The back nine was the most challenging with several water carries on the last two holes. Best course I played on the Gold Coast.
I've played here a few times now and both my brother-in-law and I just love it! Of all the wonderful courses we have played this is the favourite.
It includes, what I consider signature, Greg Norman bunkers, is nearly always in beautiful condition and the staff are fantastic.
Along with Bonville & Lakelands this one heads them as the top three courses on my list.
I can't wait for my next trip to the Gold Coast to see if I can't get my own hole-in-one as my brother-in-law did last time we were there!
I played here a few days ago and it is an absolute gem to play. Wide fairways for the unexperienced golfer. Strategically placed bunkers and trees for the more advanced.
A must play course if you have the time.
Played The Glades Monday 16 Oct had a 9:10am tee off. Turned up no one to collect bags so we had to unload ourselves but as soon as a BMW arrived there was someone to get the bags (not happy). We went into pro shop very helpful service the went out $130 less in the pocket. No gps just a two sided bit of card with the course layout on it (very avarage), proceeded to the first tee and WOW this is awesome wide fairways good bunkers positions and condition front nine greens affected by some bad sand/soil topping and fertilizer burn otherwise good fun. Halfway went to get a bite to eat and got bitten in the pocket again 2 pies 2 udl cans $21 thank you, they didn't have the pies ready we went out back nine and got our food from the food/drink carts on the 13th hole (starving) got 2 more udl cans $14 thanks again. Some very picturesque holes on this course but very playable for high handicappers. Overall cousre 7/10 service 3/10 cost 4/10. Worth playing but save your pennys as it will cost you!!!
I have played the major courses in Qld including Brookwater, North Lakes, Pacific Harbour, Royal Pines, Palm Meadows. Lakelands, Robina Woods, Hope Island, Sanctuary Cove (the Palms and the Pines) Pelican Waters, Noosa Springs Lugina Keys and many more in this calibre, not to mention Royal Melbourne, Huntingdale and some great courses in the Hunter Valley. The reason I tell you this is so you know I have a good benchmark to rate this course on. I have played it 3 times and I believe it is in the top 5 courses I have ever played in Australia and definitely the best one in Qld. Beautiful bent greens (which kill bermuda greens) great service and fantastic layout and course condition. Do not miss this on a Gold Coast holiday.
Played the course yesterday and I must admit this is really the best course I have played. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the course was magificent.
The course is very challenging with a good mixture of challenging par 3's, 4's, and 5's. It includes various elevation variations and some water carries, some bushland and some very challenging bunkering.
The best aspect of the course though is the magnificent condition. If you are on the fairway you will always have a good lie. The bunkers are in excellent condition and the greens, whilst challenging are in great condition.
I would definitely recommend this course, it is relatively expensive and misses some experiences such as GPS in the carts, but the course is magnificent and well worth the money to play this course. I will definitely play again.
The Glades is another of the Troon stable as most people know. This makes it synonomous with 5 star service and impeccible course grooming and great choice in terms of play.
The Glades, whilst expensive, is indeed a treat giving the golfer an experience unsurpassed by other 'normal' courses.
Free excellent range and short game facilities are available after dropping your bag with the friendly staff and a topnotch locker room for preparation for your round.
Once your set to go the starter informs you and your part of the day's pin placements and any other details you need and you're off! Gift pack includes an excellent yardage book, divot repairer and towel, free tee in the cart. Sweet.
The course's deisgn is interesting and varied with the fairway and greens of fantastic quiality and consistency.
Greens when I played were remarkably soft, making the whole target golf concept more possible than our standard firmer bermuda greens locally. Whilst not all are guarded with bunkers they are quite well featured and contained some excellent undulations of their own making putting a delightful challenge.
The fairways are quite generous and undulating giving a slightly links feel to the course, however the amount of water that comes into play provides a great challenge. Bunkering is great and the signature white silica sand makes them marvellous to play in instead the normal hardpan or packed bunkers I normally have to play out of!
Overall the Glades offers a complete package in terms of both service and a wonderful course. I can't wait to play again!
What a wonderful course, wow. The first time I played this course was like taking a finely tuned race car out onto a deserted race track.
Each time I have played at the Glades, it's just that much better than the previous game. I will be back again and again and again, though the price tag might dig into your pocket, I would suggest joining golf bank, which does lower the price.
A very special golf course. Plenty of water & sand. You will really need to have your game at it's best to score well around here.
For anyone who wants to know what golfing paradise is, look no further then The Glades.
This course is tough, from the back tees, but the beaty of the course makes you forget any bad shots that you have hit.
Holes which stand out would need to be the par 3 17th, which is over water and the second hole.
The club house looks awsome when you are out there on the course.
And all of the staff are very helpful.
Even though the green fees are fairly pricey. You will get every dollar out of it.
I have now played at the Glades (four times), what a course, what service and what a good time! It gets better and better each time: the course; the staff; the greens; everything. It simply gets better and better. Although, I can't say the same thing about my golf on this course.
You can be having a good day and it jumps up and bites you. But if you stay focussed and forget about how close to heaven you are, on this course, you can do well.
If price is a big consideration for you, stay clear of this one. But if price is not an issue, it's worth every cent.
I love the 17th, Par 3 with water to your left and half the way around the green. Don't be just on or you'll be in the water, the left hand side of the 17th green runs to the water!
I love Troon courses, and this one is just another reason to love them.
A very nice Greg Norman design that needs to be played more than once to grasp the concept. A credit to green staff maintaining very good Bent greens when all others have Bermuda 328 hybrid couch. The greens were holding nicely and a good quick pace. Well looked after bunkers and terrific fairways contributed to sub 80 round. Great last 2 holes,17 a water surrounded short par 3 and 18 a long par 4 dogleg with endless oportunities to mess it up depending on the bravery of the player.
This is a very good course but lacks some of the user friendly items expected at a course such as this.
The course itself was fantastic in condition and challenge - probably a little too challenging for a high handicapper such as myself. The course was in good condition and layout fantastic.
Where I think the course lets itself down is in the amenities available to visitors such as accurate course guide and distance markers on the fairways.
The only course guide provided was a double sided bit of cardboard with a diagram of each hole and whilst distance were marked on the card, the distances were for the back markers, not the socail markers, leaving you to guess a bit at the distance to the hazards in the driving zones. Whilst the sprinkler heads on the course have distances marked, 150m and 100m would not go astray so you don't have to run over the course looking at sprinkler heads.
Having got used to GPS during the week we were there, it would be nice too considering this is a $150 course, (we paid $70 for after 2pm).
Despite my gripe, I think it is a very good course, very typical of a Greg Norman design.
