Played the course for the first time in many years on Sunday 11 March 2012. The course is undergoing a bit of a transformation from being a dry and cracked terror to one that has good grass cover on the fairways, excellent tee boxes and improving greens. Many of the greens have only fair cover and there has been damage but you can see it growing back. Some of the greens are raised slightly meaning you do have to think about your approach shots. It's a flat old track with a number of doglegs to make it interesting. A few well placed mounds and uncut rough mean you have to be accurate with your shots. There are enough trees bordering the holes to keep you honest. The course could do with a real focus on it's bunkers. Many could be enlarged and many more could be added in strategic locations to make this course even more challenging. With the amount of competition in the Geelong/Bellarine area the course can't just sit back and be what it is right now. The facilities look very good although they weren't open on the day I played. The members and committee; and I assume the Geelong council, have tried hard to make it a success and it shows but more work is needed. Having said that I'm going to join up as a member and take more time to enjoy a good old fashioned regional golf course.

This course has recently become my local go-to for a qucik hit when the chances arise. During the week the $10 for 9 holes is great value on what really isnt that bad of a course. A few fairways are patchy at best and some greens are under heavy maintenance and barely playable but when finished should play well. The layout is hardly challenging even for a hack like my self. Bad shots arent really punished all that harshly (except for the water). This course is what it is and has no pretence to be anything else. If you go in knowing what to expect you can't realistically be dissapointed with what you get.

Played here on the weekend. Ripper of a little track. Not exactly St Andrews but for $16.50 what would you expect. The fairways are coming along very nicely and the greens are servicable. Could do with a bit more consistency. The layout, a Par 71, is in most cases pretty straight up and down, however there is a decent use of doglegs to try and make things a bit more tricky. The lack of rough means that wayward shots are still recoverable through a well placed punch. The staff were friendly, although the lack of chocolate bars in the 'pro-shop' was annoying. Still, the beer was cold at the bar afterwards so no massive complaints here. Overall, it's a bargain for the price and is only poised to get better with a reliable source of water. It comes recommended from me.

I played this course today and I quite enjoyed my round. The positives for this course were firstly the two members I played with who were top blokes and really easy to get along with. Although the layout is flat each hole presents a different challenge.

Although the fairways presented in below average condition, the domed greens were excellent and the pin positions made things quite interesting. There were several different grassed greens which were much quicker than the rest and were extremely rough.

This course will have an almost unlimited water supply when recycled water becomes available some time this year. This will obviously make a great difference to the condition of the course.

Flattish clay based course with a big dam that is not really in play. I played when the course was as dry as bone and it was impossible to guess where your iron shot would end up. I believe it has improved but it would want to.

having played at Elcho Park a few years ago, I was greatly impressed with the improvements in the golf course. The greens have become fast and true, with very subtle undulations that can challenge any golfer. While the course may lack a bit of character through being basically flat, there is a range of par 3's, 4's, and 5's that have varying lengths and difficulties. The fairways are well grassed compared to the last time I visited, some of the fairways with a great coverage of couch grass. Anyone that has not played at Elcho Park for a few years should definitely go back, as it has certainly improved. One excellent feature is the Pro Shop, which is very well stocked with all the latest equipment, and is very well priced, even better than the large golf shops. No matter what your round of golf is like, you might get a good deal in the Pro Shop.
