COURSE DETAILS

Heidelberg Golf club is a well established 18 hole golf course set in the beautiful Yarra Valley offering natural bush land and some spectacular city views.

Established in 1928 the course has magnificent rolling fairways designed to ensure that you get to play every challenging shot in the book. Attractive water hazards and plenty if well positioned bunkers really put golfers to the test.

The fairways are manicured and shaped in the best traditions of golf with doglegs bending left and right and the greens that run fast and true.

As well as the challenge for the golfer the encouragement of many and varied species of wild life add to the pleasure of the round.

Wow!!!  I have not played at HEIDELBERG since 2010. It was a good course then, great layout and in good shape. After 8 years I played there for the first time last week and WOW it is in incredible condition. True fast greens and the best fairways I have played on in years. I played Commonwealth the week before and would rate the greens and fairways at Heidelberg right up there with them. The staff were very friendly and the members very welcoming. If I lived closer this would be a regular course on my list, if not at the top of it.

Played here over the XMAS holidays. Awesome Monday online booking rate. The course is in absolutely tip top shape. Fairways are pristine, the greens are true. Bunkers are a little inconsistent with the amount of sand but overall an amazing course. I played all the Yarra courses and this is by far the best among all of them at the moment.

Heidelberg Update Heidelberg is the place to play, over the past 12 months the course has improved out of sight. New management, new super and new professional staff. The fairways are the best in Melbourne and the greens are probably the best in the Yarra Courses. Recently the course hosted the ProAm, Ladies Pennant and Trainee Professional event with all participants raving about the course and facilities. For those who have had a bad experience in the past, I urge you to come down for a hit and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Played Heidelberg today...I've played the course several times and quite like it. However, today we had the wierdest experience on a golf course during a comp round from the ground staff that I have ever known. On the first hole, we were kept waiting as they were cutting around the green surrounds...and again on the second. They actually rolled the mower over the 2nd, directly from one side to the other, making a noticeable track. This is after a lot of groups had gone through...we were off at 8.38. On the 14th, the sprinklers were on in the landing area for most people's drives...and then around where many would land their second they were working on a strip of GUR across the fairway...in something as big a bloody combine harvester! That basically took up the right half of fairway FFS! And then on the 16th...they were watering the green and the surrounds...as we were waiting to hit approach shots into the green. I got up there and said to the guy that we were playing in the comp, and what the hell was he doing? He said he knew...but that is what he had been told to do. Probably the worst case of stuffing around on a course during a comp that I could imagine...I was pretty pissed with the equipment on 14...by the time I saw the guy on the 16th it was time to say something. Just not good enough.

Played yesterday, and even though the greens have just been cored it was a nice day out. Very hilly, and with a few elevated tee boxes it does make things pretty tough at times! Inexplicably, if you don't have a member in your group you're not allowed to play in the comp of the day. Atrocious decision from the Management of the club.

Played here in mid-June, after a pretty dry run of weather. Greens were actually very good. I'm of the belief that if you get your greens right, you have a decent product and these ran true and reasonably quick. Fairways/rough, very boggy in places and the course is in pretty average state in terms of redevelopments, or just work that needs doing. Few hills but variety is the spice of life. Few decent holes, 1 is a good starting hole and there is a bit of variety to it. Members were friendly and decent clubrooms too. All in all, a decent track. For $1500 a year for Under-40s and no entrance fee, I'd say that represents pretty reasonable value. Not a slight on Heidelberg at all, but pace of play makes me laugh. Nigh on 2.5hrs around the front nine, then when everyone ahead realises they're not going to get in before dark - we cruise in through the back in just under 2, with all the same groups ahead. Amazing.
